Rules Committee

Some say rules (Resolutions) are a necessary evil. Others think rules are just evil. Regardless all organization have them. Rules try to balance the rights of the homeowner and the rights of the Community. They serve a number of purposes. They let members to know what is expected of them as members of our community. They let members know what is allowed and what is not allowed. Rules set standards so that property values are maintained and instill a pride of ownership. They maintain common areas and make them accessible to all members.

Many of our rules were written at the inception of our community (1966), however they need to be periodically reviewed so they keep up with the latest laws/regulations and times and keep up with changing values and thoughts.

This is the charter of the Rules Committee. The Committee does not make new rules or change existing rules unless a need is identified by the board of directors, or a need is identified by the Rules Committee. It is important to keep in mind that only the Board of Directors can make new rules or approve changes to existing rules. The Rules Committee looks at the present rules in effect and tries to make them easier to understand, better organized and are in keeping with changing laws and member’s desires.

The Rules committee is composed of volunteers who meet the third (3rd) Thursday each month for approximately and hour to conduct business. All work is done in the meeting, no take homework. There is lively discussion and give and take as the Committee reviews Resolutions to make them easier to understand, bring them up to date and hopefully better.

Come join the team and contribute positively to making our Timberlake Community better.
